I had an old Craftsman bandsaw in the garage, but the tires (rubber part that surround the wheels the blade travels around) were falling apart. The saw was useless without them.
I tried ordering parts from Amazon, but after they sent the wrong part, and with a pressing deadline to use the tool, I felt 3d printing could step in and solve my problem.
I had some flexible filament, but the stumbling block was my printer bed - it (Prusa i3 mk3) is a 250mmX200mm bed, and the saw tires are about 10" in diameter.
A little math, some trial and error, and a few test prints, and I arrived at a design that (with a little bit of effort) stretches to fit my saw nicely.
It's been working great since install, seems much quieter, and performed well in cutting.
I continue to be impressed with the utility of 3d printing to solve problems, and provide a learning opportunity.
