Basalt Columns (Updated)
This is the basic building block of the Basalt terrain for lava maps I am publishing.
This model is made for 28mm Heroic scale models.
Each Basalt column is wide enough to completely support a 32mm round base.
To shrink to 25mm base size columns print at 75%.
If used to make more terrain of this style I recommend copying the first one placed (Shift D, enter) rotating each column 60 degrees on the z axis (r, z, 60, enter) then scaling it vertically (s, z, mouse move, enter) to a new height and then placing it. (keyboard shortcuts for Blender)
The Tall column comes in 2 variants, one with an open bottom and hollow and another that is a solid piece. Both can be printed without supports. The hollow one will take 25% longer to build but be much stronger structurally.
These columns can be printed without supports with the settings tested below.
Recommended Ender 3 settings
.6mm Nozzle
Layer Height .16
Line Width.6
Wall Thickness 1.8mm
