Batman Grappling Hook

3rd year mechanical design project of a batman grappling hook system. The system is powered by a 20HP internal combustion Engine, equipped with a pull start. A belt transfers power from the engine to a shaft containing a centrifugal clutch designed for a smooth transition when throttling the engine. From here a second belt transfers torque to the winch for winding in the rope. A one way clutch has been included in the design in case of engine failure. The system can withstand a shock of 40kN, which is the calculated worst case load if the engine were to fail at its maximum velocity. The system has a safety factor of 2.0.
