I recently purchased some Gen 4 Nissan LEAF cells from e-bay to build a new battery pack for my 2007 Vectrix VX-1 electric maxi-scooter. The original pack was NiMH and completely dead, and 10 gen 4 Nissan LEAF modules (40 kWh, not the 62 kWh ones) fit perfectly in the space. The batteries I purchased came with a custom board as they were never used in a LEAF but instead used in portable EV charging stations from a company called “FreeWire”. For this reason, I didn't get the usual Nissan LEAF busbars, and needed to make my own custom terminal cap for this project. These boards are designed to interlock to ensure busbar interconnects are also protected from above. This is printed in ABS-GF, but any high-temp, strength-based material should do. We'll be sharing our progress on this over at YouTube.com/Transportevolved - the next video is going live on March 25, 2025.
