It's a snug fit for both the battery as well as the cover. The cover in fact was supposed to be hinged but with the sizes involved it ends up snapping into place with a firm push and staying there which I was fine with. I've countersunk the bolt holes countersunk for better clearance. The battery stays in there pretty tight and is not meant to be taken in and out frequently because you need to slide something down the sides and get a good grip before you can bring them out.
I plan on recharging the batteries once they're inside by hooking up them up to the charger and then inserting the charger's thermometer inside the box so that it's touching the battery snugly.
