I saw several really cool switches for cheap calipers to keep them from draining their battery while they were "off". However, my "Pittsburgh" ones from Harbor Freight didn't seem to accept the switches well. Either they didn't work because the blade wouldn't block the battery connection or they would get caught on the side of the spring steel connector. I decided to make one that slid up and down and was "captured" by the spring steel to keep it from falling out. This is the result.
1. Remove the battery cover and battery
1. Pull off the "data access" port on top of the housing
1. Slide in the switch until the spring pops out of the switch's access hole
1. Reassemble!
To turn it on, pull the switch out gently and push it back in to turn it off.
