So wanted to standardize the the weapons I use when making mechs and make the weapons look more distinctive. I though I'd share.
Ballistics:
I wanted to establish a ratio for the single shot LBX cannons and scale burstfire models appropriately. Going by ammo/ton compared to relatively modern anti-tank/tank/howitzer cannons, this is what I got:
LB2X = 115mm
LB5X = 160mm
LB10X = 205mm
LB20X = 280mm
Now, a properly scaled 280mm barrel looks about the same size as a Medium laser on most people's mechs, so all my autocannons are about 2x the proper scale (which makes them look more like everyone expects).
With those sizes, I then scaled down an array of burst fire ACs to be proportionate to their bigger barreled LB-X cousins. Some have multiple barrels, some have one. I tried to mix it up a bit.
The gauss rifles are scaled to be big, not the puny PGI barrels.
The MG is a ~25mm Gatling gun. I don't care what the books say, .50cal is not enough mass to do the damage an MG
