Beyond the sheet-of-paper test, if your 3D printer bed is manually levelled it's nice to have a test print that lets you see how the first layer of lines is being deposited. This is a simple set of squares at the corners with circles within them that gives me a quick test of my MonoPrice Select Mini setup (12cm cubic print volume). It's also a good way to test for adhesion.
Sometimes straight lines appear to be working fine, but a curved or diagonal trace doesn't stick, reminding me to check the level, or to ensure my tape-plus-glue approach is up to par.
The pattern is 105 mm square. I recommend printing this with a 3mm brim for a good quick check.
Most often I never print this pattern for more than a few minutes, and have never let it run all the way through, 'cuz I see what I need to know pretty quickly, after the first layer is down. The circles are reassuring too - if they don't look round you may have an aspect ratio issue.
If you did let it print all the way
