Allows vertical holes to be drilled in Beehive top bars. Set up for standard Warre hive bars, as in the photos, to allow 6mm diameter dowel ends to be used.
The jig uses 6mm nuts in top and bottom. These are drilled out with a 6mm drill prior to assembly, the nuts ensure longevity and take the wear of the drill. So far I have done 50 of these and all still straight. The groove is a little more than most bars are wide and I just held it by hand but you could attach it to a board if you like using the 4 screw holes, some spacers for height and a stop to endure spacing of the hole is the same for all.

Photos show the results, the spacing from the hive walls is with the jig level with the end of the bar. You can move it in and out to suit yourself. Once drilled I set out 8 bars on a level surface and pva glued the 10cm long dowels into the holes. Setting them out like that allows you to make any final adjustments to make sure they are fairly vertical and in a line. No dowel is
