Bee safe ant bait

Baiting ants with poison is a high risk to bees because they are killed by the same chemicals. This trap is designed so bees cannot get in.

Fill the small central area with a liquid solution mix of sugar and borax, typically 50:1, with a bit of water to dissolve it, should be enough to poison the ants over time as they take it back to their hive, and hopefully feed it to their queen. If you use too much borax they die before they can get back to the hive. You could probably also use the granules. I suggest placing it near the nest if you can find it, as the ants will deter other insects from entering and of course poison the nest faster.

PLA should be fine, 2 walls, 2 layers top/bottom and lightning infill should be enough. The lid lip is 0.5mm smaller but should sit snug and not fall off, but you might need a small weight on it depending on your print settings.

This is not pet safe of course. I don't like to kill ants but they are in plague levels this year :(
