Beefy Slide-Switch Housing

Forget the dangling switch-on-a-wire thing, let's put that switch in a solid, mounted housing. This two-piece design lets you put a big beefy power switch into a more safe and eye-pleasing configuration. This is especially a good idea if you're switching AC voltages, or higher currents.

The switches that fit in here are your average, large SPST or SPDT or DPDT sort of slide switches with a longer actuator. You'll need at least a 9mm actuator to comfortably use this. 12mm is even better. (Let me know if you have a shorter actuator and I can probably find a moment to thin the outer wall in another version for you).

I had a couple of very old scavenged switches laying around, and so designed this to work with them. My application is some solar-charged, 12V battery lighting.

If you wish to buy a switch that will fit these I searched a bit, and think that GF326 or a PM13B012 models will fit (e.g. DigiKey) - each for near $1 or so in small quantities of one or two.
