Bertillon calipers as used in surgery, biology, art and anywhere where measurements of cross-sections or diameters of 3D-bodies cannot be taken by ruler or tape measure.
The scale is metric (cm), but I found it near impossible to get it accurate within the angular resolution of Fusion 360 and the tolerances of my printer. Therefore I provided a second version with the scale left blank for anyone to calibrate as needed (measure against a ruler and mark the scale with a pencil or sharpie). The construction should allow for an accuracy around 0.5cm, but do not use too much pressure, the measuring tips are quite flexible in PLA (real Bertillon calipers are made of surgical steel which can be sterilized, or at least of brass).
This thing is quite large and allows for measurements up to (and slightly over) 40cm, so I needed to place it diagonally on my 30x30cm printbed. Yet the calipers should allow for easy scaling, though I made the tolerances in the hinge quite narrow. Resizing sho
