this monster 10 segment LED Bar Graph will light up the room, print any color you like mix and match them as you please, a deffinit eye catcher at any party. this will PCB but maybe not daisy-chain so well, I've not tried.

Dimensions are 3/4" wide by 2 7/16 long.
Use them with your favorite development board, can be driven by 74HC595 shift register or for audio a LM3914.
10 LED's cost maybe 50 cent if you get a good price
the IC's are cheap as well.. 74HC595 are around 20 cent.
the cost of the filament is likely even less, so for around a buck a piece in materials you get a large digital output worthy of any project you wish to use it for.
now how does that not make you want to fill your wall full of thease..
