UPDATE: 21st August 2023 - Modified the design after actually buying the 1inch long 1/4x20 hex head bolt and using the mount over the weekend:
1. Needed to space out the thumbscrew (add a further 3mm offset) so that a 1 inch long hex head bolt doesn't bottom out in the threaded socket on the Celestron Nature DX I have
1. Added a star shaped retaining washer to hold the bolt in the bracket (so that you don't lose it when transporting. Ideally you should just use a steel version of this, but this will do in a bind
---
I was looking at buying a tripod/monopod/benchtop-mini-tripod adapter for a Celestron Nature DX 10x42 binocular set, when I saw how long the wait time was on the shipping. I figured I could do better with a couple of hours in FreeCAD. Admittedly it took about four hours to get to this (second) functional revision.
This Binocular Tripod Adapter is designed to use real hardware for mounting, it requires the following hardware:
- 1 inch long 1/4x20 hex head bolt
