Spool holder using blind rivets or 1.75mm filaments as axles
This is a spool holder design for Geeetech I3 Pro B with Acrylic 8mm frame.
Though there are many spool holder designs, this particular one is different by the fact that it doesn't use ball-bearings (as the vast majority do) and instead it uses blind rivets as bushings and for the axle it can use either the rivet mandrel (rivet stem) or a piece of 1.75mm filament (PLA, ABS, ...)
The rivets are easier to get than ball-bearings and they are much cheaper. (I got a box with 6 different types of rivets and 320 in total for around $3).
The rivet itself is used as a bushing and the mandrel(stem) is used as the axle. 1.75mm PLA or ABS filament can be used as axle too (if the force on the axle is below its breaking point).
The rivet is usually made of aluminium, while the mandrel(stem) is usually made from steel.
The spool hlder itself was designed to fit the Geeetech I3 Pro B made with acrylic 8mm frame. The spool holde
