I recently tried a cable-through boom pole (location sound recording) and found that it was actually more work managing it than my previous method of just coiling the cable around the pole. This method has its negatives as well (cable can tangle after uncoiling or just stubbornly affect extension or collapsing of the pole), so I decided to craft some simple 'hooks' that and hold the cable against the pole.
These hooks are designed at varying sizes to fit my boom pole, but could easily be scaled slightly to fit other diameters as needed. I have provided four sizes to fit my pole, which includes hooks for 19mm, 22mm, 25mm, and 29mm diameters (each are actually 1mm smaller to allow for a tighter fit).
I printed mine with a stiff TPU filament (Duramic 3D TPU 95A) and it works great. The hooks give a little, and if you adjust the pole slowly the cable should slide easily enough but the hook stays in place for the most part. Unfortunately, due to the design, the material must be somewhat f
