This is a simple bracket to be used in conjunction with balsa wood for students to make bridges using various truss options. Students first model expected forces on the bridge then build one and load it until it fails. We are also evaluating allowing the students to design and print their own brackets for a bridge of their design but we need to work out the workflow issues.
The hope is that this provides not only a relevant and interesting use of 3D design and printing but also a more homogeneous connection point than glue thus allowing for a more accurate analysis of forces.
This particular bracket is designed to work with the Balsa Wood strips from Pitsco http://www.pitsco.com/Balsa_Wood_Density_Strips?SKU=57470&
