Bubble sphere bioreactor for zero gravity fermentation

New bioreactor design that utilizes zero gravity as an advantage for the production of fermented foods and biopolymer production in space. Utilizing the surface tension of water, we aim to develop a stationary floating bioreactor. We will immobilize a volume of water/media in its spherical form in the center of the bioreactor. The fermentation of microorganisms will occur within this undisturbed floating volume of media contained in sterile conditions by our bioreactor design. This approach will offer alternatives that are impossible on Earth but possible in zero gravity.
