buckytube space frame joiners

Some bits to make a bucky tube space frame. This is a simple tube as shown on http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:263765
It has 8 faces per layer.
Printed at full scale it has 6mm holes. Plastic drinking straws were used in the photo above to show how it goes together. I don't recommend straws.
Using something like wooden dowel - quite large tubes could be made.
Printed at 2 to 3 times scale something like curtain rods or tent poles could be used to make a fairly serious structure - think shade house.
The tube shape alone may not be all that useful but joined to a dome and other shapes some neat stuff could be made.
