Bus Window Sliding Latch Replacement

This is a school bus window latch replacement for those slider latches with the spring and pin. make sure to use plastic with a higher melting point, like ABS, for durability in the heat.

To remove the old latch you'll need to slide the window down to see the small hole with the latch pin. Use a centerpunch and hammer to tap the old pin down until the latch slides freely in the window channel. Slide the latch until it aligns with the 4 small grooves. Then it should come right out. Make sure to keep the old spring and pin hardware so you can reuse it on the new latch.

To install the new latch do the same steps in reverse order but don't insert the pin until last. Once the latch insert is aligned with the pin hole, insert the pin and lightly tap the pin until it's flush with the window.

Note: Depending on your printer and settings, you may need to use a drill bit to bore out the pin hole in the insert to allow the pin to tap in.
