After a year and a half of tinkering, I am finally confident enough to post my final product. I created the Buster Mech model as both a passion project of my love of giant robots and as an exercise through which I learned more about 3d modeling and 3d printing. Also, due to the pandemic, I had a lot of time on my hands.
The Buster Mech's design was highly influenced by Japanese super robots of the 80's and 90's. I wanted the mech to have a sense of weight so I bulked up the limbs and puffed up the details in the chest. I even gave it a collar, can't remember why but it just seems to work. I gave its "face" a blank visor to give it a sense of neutrality, a piece of machinery to be used for any purpose whether it be construction or farming or warfare.
The Buster Mech was designed with a focus on simplicity, durability, and ease of printing.
Joints are achieved through a system of 3mm pins that give just enough friction while also easily removed with pliers (for maximum strengt
