Note: due to small parts the tendency of 3D printed toys to break, do not give this toy to any child under the age of 3.
Legos don't make a C-3P0, so I decided to make one myself. This was reverse-engineered by disassembling an existing Duplo figure, creating multiple test prints, and reinforcing for 3D printing where structural weak points were identified.
To assemble:
Place the arms through the holes on the outer torso. Slide the inner torso up - the arms will lock into place.
Push the bottom of the head piece down into place.
Cut off one end of the hip rod, push it through the joining of the hips and and the inner/outer torso. Cut off the other end at the hip. A bit of super glue over the end joint may help the hip pin to stay in-place.
Finally, glue the top head piece to the bottom with superglue. Allow 24 hours to bond properly.
