These inexpensive Chinese electronic calipers are power hogs. Also they do not shut off when you press OFF. The only thing that turns off is the display.

Since the display uses virtually no power, about 99.9% of battery power is wasted while it sits on a shelf. Instead of lasting for a few years, the battery expires in a short amount of time.

I sometimes don't use this caliper for months, and got tired of discovering weak and dead batteries. I looked for an easy way to disconnect the battery, but didn't see anything. Remove the battery.... but where do you store it?

This little clip is a handy place to store the battery. The clip should be a nice, tight fit so it can't accidentally slip off. It may need to be scaled up or down one-percent or thereabouts.

10 min 3 grams ABS at 0.3mm Z. Experiment to get the size perfect.

Metric and SAE files provided.
