I really liked the caliper stand (see link below) and ethos of Martin8 - that calipers need to be out to be used, not tucked away in a drawer. As I am in the spaceship business for my J-O-B, the moon lander bent of the thing spoke to me as well.
I downloaded his thing and printed it, really liking the outcome, but it did not fit either of my Mitutoyo calipers. Additionally, I found that since the base is flat and my 120 year old dining table is not, it wobbled a little. I redesigned it after work last night: Changing the hole size to fit Mitutoyo 4”, 6” and 8” calipers, changed the shape of the collars, raised the bottom collar cup so that the stand sat on the three thickened round foot pads, and placed counter sunk holes in those pads so you could screw it down with some #6 wood screws if you wanted.
The print shown was down in a fast resolution setting, 15% rectilinear infill and only 2 layers, bottom, sides, and top. Even at those settings it turned out fine. If you cha
