## Summary
There are some good camera mounts out there but I was looking for something a little bit different. In particular, I wanted to use a flexible arm extension that was a little more robust and had metal threads going into my camera.
A threaded 1/4x20 rod would work if you don't need the articulating arm. The "taller" option would work best for this.
There are two main variations:
* Direct 1/4x20 threads in the plastic in short, tall and taller sizes
* Holes for brass 1/4x20 threaded inserts in short, tall and taller sizes
The threads work fine if you don't plan to take it apart and put it back together often. I wanted to try threaded inserts and I was very pleased with the result, even if it is a bit of overkill.
I used my regular soldering iron to set the threaded inserts. There are a number of great videos on how to do this including one from CNC Kitchen on Threaded Inserts for 3D Prints.
