This little mount glues to the back of a smartphone case and allows it to mount on a standard tripod. (The pictured tripod is one for motion pictures.)
Instructions:
The mount requires a case with a flat back and edge, such as one downloaded for your model phone on Thingiverse or sold on the web for as little as 99¢. Glue the mount to the back of the case flush with the bottom edge (get a hard case; silicone cases won’t successfully glue). There’s a recess on the bottom edge that allows for the raised border sometimes found on the commercial cases. It also requires a 1/4” - 20 thread machine nut that fits a standard tripod screw mount.
The nut is a tight fit in the hex recess and if you can’t push it into its space, try inserting a bolt through the hole from below, threading the nut onto it, and pulling it in (this insures that it goes in squarely). If your machine produces a print with too tight a fit, increase the size of the print by a percent or two. The only critical size
