On a recent canoe trip, I was impressed with friends' isobutane canister stove for quick and easy heating (as opposed to my trusty-rusty single burner Peak I). I was NOT impressed with its stability and at least one pot of rice was almost lost during the trip. MSR and JetBoil sell little foldable spreaders but these are barely an improvement over just the canister, and a distant second to the feet on the Peak I. I experimented with a few of the folding feet found here, but in the end chose to make something altogether more robust.
This one does not fold, but fits easily in our smallest pot. It is surely 50g heavier than the lightweight spreaders out there, but this hardly makes a difference on canoe trips. It fits the bottom of most fuel canisters by inserting the rolled edge into 2 of 3 diametral hooks and then flexing and pushing the foot of the 3rd hook into place.
