My office chair piston gave out and would slowly go down, so I made a support that clamps onto the piston acts as a brace. Please note that the resistance will depend on the material you print with and how hard you sit down on your chair. Personally I'm printing mine with HIPS and about every 4 months I print a new one, so I wouldn't recommend printing with PLA.
