Version 2: I added a slope at the end because my 1kg spools were rolling off of version 1. After this, I haven't had a problem with them rolling off. Ever go looking for filament storage solutions, only to realize you won’t have any filament left to store after printing them? Want something simple to add to your HSW system without committing a ton of space or material? Look no further. I’m relatively new to 3D printing and quickly ran into a problem: opened filament spools everywhere, and most storage solutions were either bulky, expensive, or both. The cheapest options usually involve hanging spools on rods, but that wastes a surprising amount of horizontal space and doesn’t scale well. Simply put, filament storage shouldn’t cost more filament than it stores. I wanted a slim, low-material, universal solution that could: Work with any standard spool Integrate cleanly into HSW Maximize storage density Stay cheap and fast to print This design does exactly that. Each spool is supported by a minimal cantilevered cradle that captures the spool rim instead of running a full axle through the center. But if you want, you can run a full axle through the center of one. It is designed to holds 250g spools and 1kg spools, whichever you prefer. This keeps the footprint narrow while still providing solid support. The open design allows spools to be added or removed easily, and the modular HSW mounting lets you scale from just a few spools to an entire wall. Because each holder uses very little filament, you can print a full storage setup without burning through a roll just to store rolls. It’s ideal for opened or in-use filament, color organization, or keeping frequently used spools within arm’s reach.
