Chicken Ladder

I wasn’t about to drop $40 or more on a premade chicken ladder when I knew I could build one myself for way less. To make it, you’ll need three 2"x2"x8' weather shield (I grabbed them from Home Depot). Total cost for the wood was around $15, and I already had some screws lying around, so no extra cost there. The ladder hooks are designed to fit over a 1" diameter pole. I attached it to the metal chicken run I bought on Amazon. The crossbar on that run sits about 46" off the ground. I cut the two side posts down to 5' each, which gave the ladder a good angle. For the rungs, I went with 3' long cross posts, which gave the chickens a nice flat surface to hop up and down on.
