I decided to make a new version of an old sword a made in Sketchup. This one contains the whole sword, or as parts which you can glue together with an alumiunium/steel/brass rod in the middle for aligning and extra strength.
The hole size in the middle is 5.3mm so that a 5mm rod will probably fit perfectly.
The whole length of the rod is 700mm so you probably need to buy two 500mm rods and cut the other one. They can be found on Ebay for pretty cheap.
