Clear Ice Maker Insulator

In my effort to find an effective, inexpensive, and efficient method of freezing by ice balls (can't wait for the comments), I designed this sleeve that fits onto the bottom of an inexpensive (~US$10) clear ice ball maker (directional freezer). It provides an extra layer of stagnant air insulation around the bottom reservoir (the part we want to freeze last).
Plastic isn't the best insulator so I tried to minimize the contact points. This design provides about 0.26cm^2 of contact area using three small standoffs at the bottom of the reservoir, and the rest of the contact area (5.65cm^2) sits squarely above it. It provides an extra 1/4-inch stagnant air gap all the way around the reservoir. You can make it a bit more effective by putting it on top of a piece of styrofoam in your freezer instead of directly on the shelf. In the image of the drawing, the dotted construction lines indicate the location of the reservoir, which is about 1.25" tall.
