Back storyApparently in 1950 Colgate had a competition to find ways to sell more toothpaste. Someone said they could increase the sales of toothpaste by 40% for $100,000. Colgate agreed, and the the idea was to increase the nozzle size from 5mm to 6mm. Since the 1950's the size of the nozzle has increase to 7mm in the 1980s and then now to 8mm in the 2000's. This is an increase in nozzle area and this volume by about 250%.YearDiameterAreaPercentage Increase<19505mm19.6mm^2019506mm28.2mm^2143%19807mm38.4mm^2195%20008mm50.2mm^2256%Well no more Colagate!
