This is a collapsible chess board, to provide a full-size playing surface that can be folded up and take on the go.
If you like this, check out my remix that adds various designs to the pieces: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4193615
The default size of each square is 35 mm and the assembled board comes out to about 280 mm (11-3/8") square. It can fold up into a stack in either direction about 2" tall (or in half, 3 rows, or whatever combo you want).
This design just requires four different pieces, with two different colors… or however many you want, really. But for the purposes of this description I’ll be using two (Colors “A” and “B”).
Bill of materials is as follows:
Square_MIDDLE (Color A): 18
Square_MIDDLE (Color B): 18
Square_EDGE (Color A): 12
Square_EDGE (Color B): 12
Square_CORNER (Color A): 2
Square_CORNER (Color B): 2
Hinge (Whatever color): 112
I've found making batches of 6 works out pretty well for the squares, and for the hinges I starte
