This model demonstrates a self contained gear mechanism which oscillates in truly random direction and intensity. This simple arrangement of just four gears, can be miniaturized for use in micro scale machines. Many industrial processes involve vibrational devices, and ancillary electronic controls are required to randomize the vibrations. With my system, nothing is required other than a self supporting free rotating gear set. I mounted the device to a demonstration stand so you can physically experience the workings for yourself. When spun, the middle gear freely occupies all areas of the ring gear except the extreme center and edges. The wandering center of rotation causes continuously varying load induced vibration. A dynamic interaction of centrifugal and frictional forces makes the exact motion unpredictable and usefully random. Because the vibration cycle is perpetually irregular, destructive resonance gets avoided, and the life of your entire mechanical system will be prolonged. The main device is removable from the display stand and ready to pinion mount on a standard hex shaft for your own creative applications.
