When Joe Meach, a janitor at the Superman Museum, was struck by a lightning bolt while in a room with statuettes of the Legion of Super-Heroes, he gained a number of powers. Having grown spiteful of Superman's fame, he used his new-found abilities to become Composite Superman and to strike out against the World's Finest heroes, donning a costume that was half Superman's and half Batman's. This is the logo that was on his suit in his initial appearance in 1964.
