This is the Crankpad. An unofficial wired controller made specially for the Playdate Simulator. It's designed for game developers that don't have the console yet but would like to build games for the Playdate console. When plugged in (through USB) it creates an HID device on your machine (keyboard + mouse combo) that simulates most of the Playdate's inputs, like dpad, A and B buttons and of course, the crank. While it doesn't compare to the real device, it gives you a nice idea of the use of the crank in gameplay (using the simulator). These are the electronic parts I used:Adafruit Itsy bitsy M4Adafruit Rotary EncoderAdafruit Button SwitchIf you like this project, you might also like the actual Playdate!
