This 3D model is a simplified, small-scale version of the iconic CRAY-1 supercomputer, designed to serve as both a functional Raspberry Pi 5 case and for educational purposes. I developed this model in about 25 minutes using available references. Please, don't expect any level of accuracy from the model.
The enclosure accommodates a Raspberry Pi 5 positioned roughly at the center, with enough room to ensure proper airflow and heat dissipation during operation. It was printed using PLA Silk and PLA+, combining a smooth and metallic aesthetic but also structural rigidity.
I developed this model to use in Code Club activities that aim to introduce intermediate-level students to the history of supercomputing and the fundamentals of artificial intelligence. It serves as a visually engaging and hands-on teaching tool that connects past and present computing architectures. The Raspberry Pi 5 is, in fact, around 200 times faster than the old CRAY-1.
