i installed the creality BLTouch kit on my ender 3. the problem with that kit is that the extra mounts and wires hit the fan of the control board cover, so you can't put the cover back on. i found this awesome design: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3643680 that fixes the problem by moving the fan. it's a great cover, but i found that i'm always opening the cover (working with firmware) and putting the screws in was a pain. this cover just clips in, so it's easy to take on and off.
UPDATE: this is a second version of the cover. i got some warping on the first version, so i added a lip in the front and made the latch longer in the back. hopefully, that will prevent warping.
i've also structured everything so that you do not need supports.
you could probably use any material, but i would be a bit worried that the heat coming off the board might warp PLA. i would be interested in hearing peoples experience.
