The hot end fan on the original Creality printers has two failings in my eyes.
First, the shroud obscures the nozzle making it hard to see the first layer quality. This also gives part cooling fans a hard time getting airflow to the print
Second, the airflow from the heatsink fan ends up exhausing over the print providing additional cooling. While this is great if you don't have a part cooling fan it limits your ability to separately control the airflows. Something you may want to do for certain materials.
The fan mount I designed uses two axial fans (in a push-pull config) to cool the heat sink and two blower fans to cool the print.
This does require modifying the wiring loom of the hotend to add additional fans in parallel however I already had both fans mounted through plugs so this was a relatively easy task.
The design should still work fine with just a single fan though if you don't wish to undertake this.
The blower fans are angled in and slightly back so don'
