I have the dryer on a table with no back support. When I open the lid all the way, it's too big and takes up too much space. Every time I open it, I have to be careful because if it falls back, it can knock over things behind it. I'm worried that one day the lid will slip out of my hand and break the hinge because of the stress. This backstop makes the lid open at a 90-degree angle, which is just enough to put in a spool.

This uses the existing hinge holes, but you must replace the 4x75mm rod with a 4x100mm rod, which is readily available on Amazon and other places. I found that Uxcell worked well. You simply use a small screwdriver to push the rod out and replace it with the new one.

Although not required, I found that applying double sided tape was also helpful to make it “feel” more sturdy but this is personal preference and not needed for function. 3M VHB tape or similar will do but ensure that the thickness is no more than 0.0
