Customizable Box and Lid Saver

If you’ve ever had the box or lid of a favourite board game fall apart, you know how annoying that can be. I kept running into the same problem, so I designed a customizable Box and Lid Saver that works no matter the size or the thickness of the cardboard. For anyone wondering about sizing, most classic board-game boxes like Monopoly, Clue, and Scrabble are usually around 1.5 to 2 mm thick. Some premium or Kickstarter-style games can run a bit heavier, up to about 2.5 to 3 mm. The design is meant to handle that whole range, so you can dial it in to fit whatever box you’re trying to rescue. For my ancient Monopoly box the lid thickness was just less than 2mm. It’s handy for more than just games too. I even used it on my cat’s scratch box after tape failed me for the last time. That finally pushed me to create a simple, sturdy, customizable fix that prints easily and actually holds up. The scratch pad had a thickness around 7mm so I designed it with a 6.5mm gap and it fits nice and snug.
