Customizable Hybrid OrnamentsSnap-Fit Design with Engravable Wood InsertsThis year I created a set of hybrid Christmas decorations: 3D-printed bodies combined with real laser-cut wooden inserts. I printed them in BambuLab PETG Orange and White, a combo that gives a warm, festive contrast perfect for the tree.The wooden disk snaps into the ornament with a firm push from the back. Once inserted, removing it isn’t very easy — you would need to gently pry it off with a thin blade — so make sure everything is correct before locking it in.To keep the ornament perfectly straight, I carefully studied the position of the top hook so it compensates for the weight of the wood insert. This took several tests, but it was absolutely worth it.If you use other materials (heavier or lighter), the ornament may tilt slightly forward or backward.If you experience tolerance issues, just adjust the diameter of the wooden “cap” insert, either slightly larger or smaller.
