This is an early draft of my submission for the noisemaker challenge. The idea is easy customization and the ability to "compose" tunes. While the musical character may be limited I can imagine this appealing to children as a way for them to build/customize a music box. The system works like a typical music box, the cylinder would contain ridges which lift the arms. These arms then hit back, creating sound. What differentiates this from other designs is the ability to re-arrange these ridges. The system holds 32 rings on a splined shaft that has been optimized for 3D printing. There are 16 "flaps"-each with different characteristics (8 lengths+2 thicknesses) that can be actuated by these rings. This will inspire experimentation since we all know that kids love to make noise.
