This is a quick customizable way to make an array of columns of any size and with any size columns.
This little design is a great example of the beauty and power of OpenSCAD as it has lots of uses -- everything from setting up a 3-D printable plinko game to using them to make holes in your Buckner funnel (which I will post in a moment) to illustrating the geometry of your semiconductor nanocolumn array to optimize their optical properties for solar photovoltaic applications (see for example [InGaN nanocolumn paper](http://www.academia.edu/1484579/Effects_of_Substrate_Temperature_on_Indium_Gallium_Nitride_Nanocolumn_Crystal_Growth)
This component is part of an open source lab library, by the [Michigan Tech's Open Sustainability Technology Research Group](http://www.appropedia.org/Category:MOST).
For similar see the [Open-Source Lab How to Build Your Own Hardware and Reduce Research Costs](http://www.appropedia.org/Open-source_Lab)
