Brief Description This pump operates on the same principle as the trochoidal pump. Multiple sealed chambers are formed between an outer ring gear and an inner rotor mounted on a parallel but offset axis. As the rotors turn, these chambers travel from the inlet to the outlet, carrying the enclosed fluid. In this display model the ports are not explicitly shown, but in a real pump they would appear as openings in the side wall or end plate. The sole distinction from a trochoidal pump lies in the tooth profile. Rather than trochoid curves, the teeth here are generated by cycloid curves. The construction proceeds as follows.
