I have been wanting to make a genuine cyclone dust separator, but all the models I could find were either too small for my purposes, or too big to print. So, I modeled this guy so that it can be printed in pieces and glued together. I used the specifications in the first image (except it's about 3/8" shorter than it should be), since that seems to be the generally agreed upon parameters - per the laws of fluid dynamics (I don't really know, I just Googled it). Following those parameters made the model relatively tall, but it should give the best performance.
It is very much a WIP and I haven't printed it yet (mostly because I'm at the end of a role of PLA and the next roll is a different color...), but I can't think of any current problems.
I've included a hose adapter for the vacuum port that enters the spiral. it's designed specifically for a 2.5" hose end that comes with the hoses you buy at Home Depot for the Rigid Shop Vacs. I measured the inside diameter of that hose
