I always wanted a direct drive extruder on my delta printer (a modified anycubic kossel). Due to the low mass of the orbiter extruder, it makes it the ideal candidate for my little experiment. So I'm happy to share my design of the orbiter extruder delta effector.
Delta effector offset: 40mm (i know is quite big but i had to be sure that the nema14 motor of the extruder will not touch the diagonal rods.
Probe offset: -15.35mm, using a regular endstop switch.
Distance between rod joins: 43mm. Plenty of space for custom cardanic articulations
The part cooling duct: i printed mine in Fiberlogy TPU 40d. It's ridiculously temp resistant, keeping its shape.
Using this design, i managed to print TPU 40D @100mm/s wall speed (50mm/s outer wall speed) with success.
Al other parts where printed in regular PLA, 3 walls and 20% infill.
For the leveling probe, i used 2 magnets: height - 3.75mm, diameter: 12mm
There is a small PTFE tube between the extruder and the hotend. Aft
