Every foamboard-type requires a test prior to cut the real thing on a lasercutter.
WHY?
The power you need depends on the paper-quality and paper-thickness. The Demo-Object uses foamboard of a store in Bern, Switzerland (http://www.lachenmeierfarben.ch/filialen/bern-aarbergergasse-56/), and requires the following:
Cut: 25 / 40 / 30 (speed, max power, corner power)
Semi-Cut: 80 / 40 / 30
Engrave: 100 / 30 / 20
Semi-Cut: Only the top paper-layer and the foam will be cutten. You need this to bend your object (see pictures)
Engrave: This is not done by the engrave-option of the lasercutter as it attends a closed figure. If you want to engrave lines and markings, use "cut" but with low power as mentioned above.
This technic is widly used by flitetest.com. So have a look there to lern how to construct and how to use the different cuts (A-fold, B-fold, C-fold). Here you find an easy example of a plane: http://flitetest.com/articles/ft-simple-storch-build
