Quick and cheap test print to check some critical calibration aspects. Usually inner spaces are smaller than on design from =nozzle size to even smaller, depending on first layer settings or alike. With this shape you can check:
- Big enough piece but not pushing boundaries to check how centered shapes are placed
- Extruder consistency, if filling is not uniform can be extruder's fault, if its uniform but missplaced, axis movement problem
- Inner shapes of known size, so you can verify how smaller gets and keeping that in mind, design the pieces to get the correct size at first try, less frustration and material waste
- Circles and squares must be perfectly round and straight, revealing axis movement trouble if dont
- Bed height, if nozzle is too close from bed, will drag over impression, leaving traces (beware, if the trace is all the way nozzle moves it's because of height, if only at part of it can be caused by some inertial drag, usually from belt with not enough tension)
